Guidelines for Cyber Risk Management in Autonomous Shipping by iTrust

On 18 January 2024, the iTrust Centre for Research in Cyber Security at Singapore University of Technology and Design released a new guide focusing on managing cyber risks in autonomous vessels titled Guidelines for Cyber Risk Management in Autonomous Shipping. This guide meticulously examines cyber risks in four key systems of autonomous vessels. The four main systems covered in the guide are:

– Shore Control Centre (SCC);
– Communication System;
– Autonomous Ship Controller (ASC);
– Autonomous Navigation System (ANS).

This guide has the potential to be a crucial resource for industry professionals, researchers, and regulators seeking to understand and mitigate cyber risks in autonomous vessels. Furthermore, the guide is offered free of charge, aiming to reach a broad audience. The full text of the guide can be freely downloaded from the official website of the iTrust Centre for Research in Cyber Security.

This new guide underscores iTrust’s expertise in the field of maritime cyber security. Serving as a continuation of the previously released Guidelines for Cyber Risk Management in Shipboard OT Systems on 22 February 2022, this new guide is presented as the second volume.
